The CAS-MAP™ Caspase 1 in vitro assay provides a convenient and sensitive means for detecting activated caspase 1 in cells or tissue. The assay utilizes the caspase 1 recognition sequence (YVAD) or an optimized recognition sequence (WEHD) conjugated to a fluorescent label. The caspase-1 assay is cell permeable, nontoxic, and irreversibly binds to activated caspase 1 in cells. Any unbound reagent diffuses out of the cell and is washed away.
