Mastitis is an inflammatory change in the mammary gland characterized by pathological changes in mammary tissue, which is a common and potentially fatal infection in dairy cattle. Milk from infected cows exhibits increased somatic cell counts (SCC). This application note describes how the Scepter handheld, automated cell counter can provide a rapid, reliable alternative to traditional SCC analysis.
