Application Note: Measuring glycolysis and oxidative metabolism in cancer cells
20 May 2014
In this application note, the XF Analyzer was used in the characterization of glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration. Shifts in substrate utilization and metabolism, characteristic of cancer cells, can be detected conveniently and simultaneously through detection of the oxygen consumption rate (OCR), to quantify mitochondrial respiration, and the extracellular acidication rate (ECAR), an indicator of glycolysis. The XF Analyzer ensures there is no need for sequential sampling and spectrophometric lactic acid measurements.
