Application Note: Monitoring Exposure to Man-Made Chemicals

There are now some 70,000 chemicals on the commercial market, with many others produced each year as intermediates, waste or laboratory chemicals. Many are released into the environment with little or no knowledge of the potential long-term impact on ecosystems. Scientists are developing sensitive techniques that can accurately detect and measure these synthetic compounds so their effects on humans and wildlife can be carefully monitored.
