Metrohm UK Ltd

Dr Bertold Suhner and Willy Struder founded Metrohm in 1943 in the town of Herisau, Switzerland. During these foundation years Metrohm manufactured precision resistances, potentiometers and even a Metrohm radio.

By 1948 Metrohm had specialised its product development and manufacturing for the production of chemical analysis instrumentation.

Since these formative years Metrohm has developed into a truly multi-national company, with over 30 international subsidiaries & ninety distributors plus manufacturing plants in Switzerland, Germany and Holland.

The philosophy of Metrohm has always been to remain focussed on the techniques of "Ion Analysis " using the basic techniques of:

  • TITRATION
  • KARL FISCHER (Moisture Analysis)
  • ION CHROMATOGRAPHY
  • VOLTAMMETRY

Quality and value for money has always been the ethos of Metrohm. All our high specification systems are manufactured in Switzerland, using and incorporating the very latest in technological developments. For the last 10 years Metrohm have been driving down the price of analytical instrumentation and now all our instrumentation is a lot cheaper and more compact than it was 10 years ago.

To serve the key markets of the UK & The Republic of Ireland, Metrohm UK & Metrohm Ireland were set up in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Our teams of sales, service and support personnel are all factory trained in Switzerland on the full Metrohm product programme….we have over 300 man years of experience in Electro-chemistry within the companies.

Giving our analytical customers full application support is the most important aspect that we can provide to the market place. At our headquarters in Buckingham and Dublin we have specialist laboratories for all of the "Ion Analysis" techniques to support customers….we offer lifetime applications support on all our instruments.

Training, Regulatory Compliance and Validation are key issues for all Metrohm staff, and as such we offer a comprehensive range of support packages.

Seminars are a very useful tool for introducing the concepts of the above techniques, plus obtaining useful practical tips on sample preparation, analytical technique and interpreting the results. Our FREE seminar programmes are varied, i.e. ½ and full day seminars/workshops, on a national or regional basis, a list of these can be found under Training & Seminars on this web site.
