Scientists can register via www.i-kode.com with a selection of Academic Societies and Journal Publishers as well as leading Suppliers of Products and Services (i-kode Partners). Scientists can register via www.i-kode.com with a selection of Academic Societies and Journal Publishers as well as leading Suppliers of Products and Services (i-kode Partners). For each chosen Partner the user selects whether to receive information by mail or e-mail; they can also choose to remove themselves from mailing lists. Some Partners offer the facility to complete a brief questionnaire so that users can specify their particular interests. This, together with powerful search facilities, means that scientists can use the i-kode.com service to find Partners with products or services that meet their research interests, ensure that they are kept up to date with relevant information and reduce the amount of unwanted mail that they receive.
The greatest value of the i-kode.com service is when scientists move labs. A simple 1-minute update via www.i-kode.com www.i-kode.com means that their new contact details will be available to all their chosen Partners. In this way the user saves the time and effort taken to inform everyone individually. This will reduce the amount of mail addressed to people who have moved on. So, there will be less waste of resources through undelivered mail and less time spent by mailroom or admin staff having to deal with this.
Information is only passed to those Partners selected by the user and Ikon does not sell or make available its user information to anyone else.
