Great instrument for measuring size and surface charge.
Application Area:Nanoparticle size and surface charge
"Malvern's Zetasizer Nano is a great instrument for determining the size and surface charge of nanoparticles. My research focuses on nanoparticles in the sub-50 nm size range. I've been able to obtain accurate sizing with the Zetasizer Nano using backscattered light and to confirm the lightscattering results with TEM imaging. With the same sample, I've also been able to use the Zetasizer Nano to measure surface charge. What I like about the Zetasizer is that it measures thousands of nanoparticles in solution. The instrument is very easy to use, and Malvern has been great at providing assistance whenever needed."

Excellent to have you Mr. Zetasizer to meet the requirements of my research projects
Application Area:Droplet charge of nanoemulsion
"This is a great instrument to study the particle size, charge and molecular weight. I have been using this instrument for one and half year to analyze the nanodroplet size and charge for my nanoemulsions. It's an excellent instrument, easy to use and reliable in terms of the repeatability of the results. No need to calibrate and easy to understand the results and interpretation. It is also useful for studying the stability of the colloidal particles to different environmental factors such as ionic strength and pH. Not much sample preparation is required to analyze the sample as well as very quick to get the results of my samples. I can not imagine my research project without this instrument to go into the depth of nanoemulsion science. In all, I would say its values for money deals for any researchers to invest in this kind of instruments. I would like to thanks Malvern for putting the easiest technology of measuring the charge and size of particles up to nanometer scale."
Manufacturer's ResponseThank you, we wish you well in your research

The results are highly repeatable and reliable. The instrument is easy to operate.
Application Area:Measurement of zetapotential and dynamic light scattering measurements
"We use the instrument many times a day for measurements of surface charge and hydrodynamic particle size through dynamic light scattering measurements. The operation is always smooth. Great technical support and immediate feedback that solves the problem. Recently we got a issue and was immediately solved. A tech support personnel visited our university to make sure things were fine and explained handling, maintenance and operations which gave everyone in our lab a better understanding of the instrument functions and maintenance. In my opinion, it is a great instrument for obtaining reliable measurements/results!"

Wonderful instrument, a great addition to our lab!
Application Area:Coating particle size and zeta potential, as well as some pH dependent zeta potential and particle s
"The Malvern Zetasizer is very easy to setup and use. the SOP style walks through the pertinent parameters ensuring nothing gets missed. The software is very user-friendly, and allows for multiple levels of control (CFR 21/11). We have had very few problems with our instrument over the 10+years we have had it, and the few we have had were quickly addressed by Malvern. still a workhorse in our lab, and we continue to find new ways to incorporate the capabilities into our testing."

Pretty sophisticated product that will be more than enough for most general users
Application Area:Measure size of liquid nanoparticles
"The Malvern Zetasizer nano is a great piece of equipment (especially considering it is a "black box" that does most of the difficult stuff -- i.e. power settings, laser height, count rate monitoring -- for you). It's nice that there are some "advanced" features that allow you more control over these normally set features, and that built in macros allow you access to raw data such as the correlation and size distribution if you wanted to do your own fit. Some additional features which I think could be quite helpful would be to include not just a cumulant fit, but a CONTIN analysis (better for a greater variety of systems, especially polydisperse), and also the ability to select from the correlation data a range to analyze. For example, if the correlation data is perfect with a baseline at zero, and you know there is dust or other particulates in your sample that is causing this, to be able to "chop" the data where the exponential decay ends and have a fit of only that data."

The Zetasizer Nano ZSP has recently been superseded by the Zetasizer Ultra as Malvern Panalytical’s flagship Zetasizer. It is used for the measurement of size, electrophoretic mobility of proteins, zeta potential of nanoparticles and surfaces, and optionally the microrheology of protein and polymer solutions.
