The dls instrument is easy to use and helpful for surface charge studies
Rating: 4.7

  • Application Area:Nanoparticle size analysis

"The Zetasizer Nano instrument is a highly versatile and efficient tool that has revolutionized the way surface charge studies of metallic and semiconductor nanoparticles are conducted. It is an easy-to-use instrument that has a user-friendly interface and provides a dts file for quick data transfer, saving a lot of time for researchers. The results obtained from the instrument are reproducible when the particles are well dispersed, making it a reliable tool for conducting these studies. With regards to the slightly slow data analysis time, it is still within acceptable limits and does not take away from the overall efficiency of the instrument. I would rate this product a 9 out of 10, given its excellent value for money. It provides an affordable solution for conducting these types of studies, without compromising on quality. In addition, the sales care provided by the company is also very good, with knowledgeable and friendly representatives who are always willing to assist with any questions or concerns. In conclusion, the dls instrument is a must-have tool for researchers in the field of surface charge studies of metallic and semiconductor nanoparticles. It offers an efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solution for these types of studies, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to conduct similar research. The company's excellent sales care only adds to the appeal of the product, making it an overall excellent choice for researchers in this field."

Useful for routine before TEM.
Rating: 4.0

  • Application Area:Nanoparticles

"Is a piece of good equipment for comparing several stages of functionalization from the same sample but not for a single one. Factors such as hydrodynamic diameter, multiple dispersion, and mathematics assuming spheres... lead to that size in zetasizer is sometimes far away from the real size. Zeta potential measurements are more interesting than size. Is easy to use."

Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:nanoengineering

"I began to use this instrument to measure nanoparticle size and zeta potential. It is easy for me to learn how to use it, and the data is reliable. We can quickly check whether data quality is good or not during the measurement. But it is hard for me to find how to download the software from the website, luckily I found it. This instrument is reliable and worth of money."

Great results, the instrument is absolutely useful.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Microencapsulation technology

"The instrument is being applied from 8 am until 8 pm, for students in research work, for PhD students and for technicians. It is very easy to explain to them how it works, and the effectiveness of measurements are of very high accuracy. We have been using this instrument for the last 5 years andvit shows robustness and precision on measuring. Either size diameter, or zeta potential are determined here. In both cases, the instrument works very well."

Great.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Size distribution and zeta potential of nanoparticles

"It is easy to use, but samples need dilution before tests, which makes the zeta potential less accurate. It depends on the sample preparation, so tests results can be quite different."

Review date: 06 Mar 2020 | Zetasizer Nano ZS

Manufacturer's Response

Thank you for the positive review. As for Zeta measurements, it’s better if you can dilute your samples in the continuous phase (if possible obtain a clean continuous phase by centrifugation and/or filtering). If that is not possible then use an analogue of the continuous phase and keep it consistent between samples of the same type. All the best – Malvern Panalytical.

The instrument is consistent and results reproducible. Must have for protein work
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Aggregation and thermal stability of protein

"The instrument is easy to use and the support is great. I highly recommend users to attend the seminars that Malvern provides, although this is not necessary to start using the instrument. I would recommend they use a test protein first like BSA, for which lots of data is available from Malvern and others. The Application notes were also very helpful and technical experts were extremely helpful."

Great result which is able to lead great papers and research!!!!
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Analyze the nanoparticle samples

"I've been using the Malvern nano ZS for almost over 4 years. It is very well known as DLS (dynamic light scattering). My research is biomolecular imaging with several types of nanoparticles. So, I really need the size and zeta-potential data for my research. As I know, most of the researchers are using Malvern DLS instrument. I've submitted several papers and been working on a patent with this instrument. For the science, the essential is the most important. This instrument is the essential of my research."

Great instrument
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Analyze drug-loaded nanoparticle formulations

"Our Zetasizer has been imperative in allowing me to analyze my drug-loaded polymeric nanoparticle formulation batches with consistent results. I have looked at particle size and zeta potential and always received good results, that were comparable to similar formulations. Instrument is easy to use and allows for numerous analytical combinations."

Simple and reliable
Rating: 4.7

  • Application Area:Evaluation of formulation excipients via zeta potential

"The easiest most reliable instrument. Never breaks. Simple to use. Zeta potential does have a large error margin but for the ease of use and low cost to operate worth the 2 min to set up a run. Backscatter feature is nice for smaller particles that would otherwise not be seen."

Great Instrument
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:Formulation development

"Easy to use, but could have more technical assistance with setting up parameters for SOPs such as when it might be better to use forward versus backscatter. More expansive refractive index/absorbance preloaded."

The Zetasizer Ultra is this products successor.

The Zetasizer Nano ZS is used for the measurement of the size, electrophoretic mobility of proteins, zeta potential of colloids and nanoparticles, and optionally the measurement of protein mobility and microrheology of protein and polymer solutions.

The Zetasizer Nano ZS is a high-performance two-angle particle and molecular size analyzer for the enhanced detection of aggregates and measurement of small or dilute samples, and samples at very low or high concentration using dynamic light scattering with ‘NIBS’ optics. The ZSP also incorporates a zeta potential analyzer that uses electrophoretic light scattering for particles, molecules and surfaces, and a molecular weight analyzer using static light scattering.

In addition, a microrheology option is available for measuring sample viscosity and viscoelastic properties, as well as a Protein Measurement option for protein mobility measurements.

Zetasizer Nano ZS Features:

  • Size measurement from 0.3nm (diameter) to 10 microns using patented NIBS (Non-Invasive Back Scatter) technology.
  • Zeta potential using patented M3-PALS technology.
  • Molecular weight measurement down to 980Da.
  • Microrheology option to measure viscosity and viscoelasticity.
  • Protein size measurement as dilute as 0.1mg/mL (Lysozyme).
  • Sample concentrations from 0.1ppm to 40%w/v.
  • Optional protein calculators, including protein charge, A2, kD, and molecular shape.
  • A ‘Quality Factor’ and ‘Expert Advice System’ gives the confidence of having an expert at your shoulder.
  • 21CFR part 11 software option to enable compliance with ER/ES.
  • Research software option to give access to further features and analysis algorithms for the light scattering specialist.
  • Automation of measurements using an autotitrator option.
  • Optional flow mode capability to enable use as a GPC / SEC size detector.
  • Alternative laser, 50mW at 532nm for samples incompatible with the standard 633nm laser.
  • Optical filter option to improve measurements with fluorescent sample.
  • Temperature range extension option to 120ºC.
