"Product is easy to use and doesn't have many issues. The high throughput, automatic reading and unloading are great features. Downtime for service does require you to not load the instrument the day before so you are looking at 2 days of downtime. There are some minor limitations with the software that make it difficult for customizations, rules, and connection with middleware."

"The instrument is easy to use. It sometimes terminates the susceptibilities for unknown reasons. Most of the time it gives results in timely manner. There are some technical issues for example, transferring multiple susceptibilities at the same time is not allowed."

"VITEK 2 is a great system, especially after using API strips. We are a small lab and it is rare that we head straight for PCR for our pathogen screening. The VITEK has been very dependable and is the backbone of our confirmation protocols. The only complaint I have is with the many recalls over the last two years with both the GN and GP (gram-negative & gram-positive) cards. The packaging has been either not sealed on the seam or punctured on the side and their official recalls have not caught all of them. These are not cheap and we have had to dance around these issues several times, often for proficiency testing and/or actual confirmation of positives/epidemiology testing. Its a good system but we need to be able to count on it in a pinch."
