Great instrument, we ended up buying total 6 ViiA7 for our lab.
Application Area: RTPCR and thermal Melt
"The instrument has an analyst software installed, it's very convenient because it saves a lot of your time to analyze the data. Instead of spending time analyzing your data manually, after the run, the data is analyzed for you."

Great instrument, easy to use, very reliable.
Application Area:Assay Development/HTS
"We use the ViiA 7 for RT PCR and Thermal melt. It works very well and it is a user friendly. We ended up buying a total of 5 ViiA 7 for our lab because it is so reliable and suitable for our needs. "

Great results! Reproducible
Application Area:Gene expression analysis
"Extremely easy to use and reliable results. Lot of analysis can be done on the software itself."

Great machine, just needs to have its footprint dramatically shrunk
Application Area:Molecular Diagnostics
"Fantastic and consistent platform software, impressive reliability, fast and dependable. I would like to see it reduced to the size of a lunchbox however and the touch screen is not strictly necessary."

"The ViiA7 has been fairly reliable and can withstand sequentially running of several plates at a time. It’s fairly user friendly making it easy to use. We've had it in our lab for about 2 years and multiple people use it. The system always worked very well. However recently, we have been having some issues with it stopping mid run, various error messages and other hiccups. We've called to see about troubleshooting and trying to remedy some of these issues without having to get the machine serviced. However they will not talk to us without a service claim. Maybe we have just had some bad luck with this system but rather use our old reliable machine to make sure I don't lose all my hard work. "

"It’s a really easy to use machine, does exactly what is required of it, however, the software is impossible. It is not intuitive, the software doesn’t allow the run to start when something is programmed wrongly. Normally, this would be a good thing, however it DOES NOT tell you what went wrong with the programming so that you can fix it. When exporting to excel, it has one fixed format, exporting by rows, and cannot be changed to export by column. Also when making selections of genes/samples in labelling, you have to click directly on the tick boxes, clicking on the words does not make the selection. This may seem trivial, but is really not helpful when you have to click a small .5*.5 sized box to make your selection. It’s a great machine, but really, software could be a whole lot better and more user friendly to make it better."

"We commonly use the Viia7 in our molecular lab--it's super easy to set up and we've had no issues with running multiple plates on it. We've also had the opportunity to run arrays and those are easy to setup and run as well. The ExpressionSuite software that's associated with the instrument is a little clunky and can take some time to figure out. Another problem is that the automated arm program to setup multiple plates can't be open while you set up the plates. We would recommend this to other colleagues and individuals who need to run RT-PCR plates in the lab. We've been impressed with the ease of plate setup--there is just a bit of a learning curve associated with the figuring out ExpressionSuite on the outset but otherwise it's great."

"Excellent, quick system for switching between 96 x 364 plates. Excellent value for money, we got a new model for the price of an ex-demo. However, the software/user interface is horrible. You can't name samples in plate-layout view."
