USB2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer

"This little spectrometer is very handy because of its small size and portability. I have used it mostly for visible absorption spectrometry, and I like the fact that calibration is straightforward and spectra are easily viewed. However, I do not like the difficulty the software presents with saving spectra. It is not possible to save only the absorbance data. Instead, one has to sort through multiple files that include the reference, background, and other data before finding the absorbance data."

USB2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer

"The system is a relatively inexpensive instrument and is set-up for commercial use. Easy to sample, little to no sample preparation. Need to ensure alignments of focal lens and fiber optic for best analysis. Laser is incorrectly set-up to sample chamber. System has it vertical while laser company states laser should be positioned horizontally. This can eventually cause laser issues."

USB2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer

"this has done everything its supposed to do!"

Description

The USB2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer is a small-footprint, plug-and-play version of our revolutionary S2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer.

• Modular design
• User-configured wavelength range and resolution
• Automatically reads the wavelength calibration coefficients of the spectrometer and configures operating software
• USB-to-PC interface; no external power requirements

Facilitated Operation

Setting up the USB2000 Spectrometer is easy. The user simply installs our Spectrometer Operating Software and then connects the USB cable from the spectrometer to the computer. Wavelength calibration coefficients unique to each spectrometer are programmed into a memory chip right on the USB2000; the software simply reads these values from the spectrometer. What's more, the USB2000 requires no external power supply; it draws its power from the computer. In fact, the USB port can be used to power light sources that connect to the spectrometer.

Optimal Performance

The USB2000 couples a low-cost, high-performance 2048-element linear CCD-array detector with an optical bench that's small enough to fit into the palm of your hand -- the same detector and optical bench that have provided superior performance to the users of our 15,000 systems out in the field. The USB2000 also works the same way as other Ocean Optics spectrometers in that it accepts light energy transmitted through single-strand optical fiber and disperses it via a fixed grating across the linear CCD array detector, which is responsive from 200-1100 nm.
Modular Design

Users can also choose from Ocean Optics' complete line of spectroscopic accessories to use with the USB2000. Most accessories have SMA connectors for application flexibility. Changing the sampling system is as easy as unscrewing a connector and adding new components or accessories, such as light sources, sampling holders, filter holders, flow cells, fiber optic probes and sensors, collimating lenses, attenuators, diffuse reflectance standards, integrating spheres and an extensive line of optical fibers.

Optional Battery Pack

A pair of Lithium Ion cells makes the USB2000 Spectrometer field-portable.
