Reliable instrument supporting the development of biotherapeutics.
Application Area: Workhorse for antibody characterization
"The Orbitrap Elite Hybrid Mass Spectrometer is used in our MS lab for routine peptide mapping applications. This reliable and sensitive instrument allows for an in-depth bottom-up characterization of different biotherapeutics and is mainly used for antibodies and fragments thereof. The performance is by far good enough for the intended application and undersampling has never been identified as a problem. All standard post-translational modifications are identified, including glysosylation, glycation, deamidation and oxidation."

"Powerful Analytical Tools from small molecules to macromolecules. Coupled with 2D nano LC, this instrument can offer ultimate solutions to identify, quantify, and it enable us to do analysis with limited sample amount. The drawbacks are --> need software improvements in LC integration and it is expensive."

"We bought the Orbitrap Elite as our main MS platform for analysing complex protein mixtures in a bottom-up UPLC-MSn workflow. In our hands, the Orbitrap performs as expected: High mass-accuracy (and stability), fast MSn cycles and high dynamic range and sensitivity. We are using our Orbitrap Elite 24/7, and that brings me to the only downside: Our machine needed extensive repairs in the first nine months after purchase, which, even though Thermo resonded quickly and actively tried to solve the problems as fast as possible, led to downtimes of about 8 weeks in total. That being said - the results we get are excellent. We would buy it again."
The high-field Orbitrap analyzer increases speed, sensitivity and dynamic range to dig deeper into your samples. The ultra-high resolution provides certainty in analytical results by enabling molecular weight determination for intact proteins and in-depth analysis of isobaric species.
Generation II ion optics with novel neutral blocking technology and Velos Pro* detection system increases the robustness and quantitation capabilities.
The high-field Orbitrap analyzer increases speed, sensitivity and dynamic range to dig deeper into your samples. The ultra-high resolution provides certainty in analytical results by enabling molecular weight determination for intact proteins and in-depth analysis of isobaric species. The unsurpassed resolution of the system is especially useful when dealing with complex and low abundance samples, in applications such as proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics.
The Orbitrap Elite hybrid MS can perform a wide variety of experiments from in-depth discovery based experiments to comprehensive qual/quan experiments. The availability of multiple fragmentation techniques (CID, HCD and optional ETD) offers a new level of versatility and performance for the most challenging research applications.
