The ability to tweak the Ex. & Em wavelength was essential to maximize the S/ N.
Application Area:HTRF Assay development
"I found his reader very useful when developing an HTRF assay. Both for endpoint reads and the scanning capability so the proper wavelengths could be determined for kit QC and users to use. The ability to tweak the Ex. & Em wavelength was essential to maximize the S/ N."

Really nice statistical program is included and instant.
Application Area:Measurement of soil enzymes by fluorescence quantification
"The instrument is easily programmed to analyze the fluorescence of soil enzymes and saves us lots of time due to its excellent analysis of the data after it reads the 96 well plates. We have not had to have the unit serviced in over a year and a half of use. It is truly a great asset to our laboratory as we can now achieve a high quality of readings and analysis in a short period of time. It has many other uses but our current use is DNA quantification in 96 well plate and fluorescence of soil enzymes present in our samples."

Great piece of equipment. I would recommend purchasing another one to my PI.
Application Area:Enzyme activity assay
"The plate reader is very user friendly. I like that any settings I have setup for a certain assay can be saved and ready for the next day. This saves a ton of time. The results were readily reproducible. It may be useful to consider if you can change the temperature settings for the assay. We had one instrument with this capability and the other instrument was unable to adjust the temperature. Any issues with the equipment were always promptly resolved by a tech although this was very rare."

Great fluorescence and absorbance system!
Application Area:Fluorescence, absorbance
"The instrument is used for absorbance and fluorescence measurements. It works with all the available plate to 384-well plates. It posses a temperature control system. The measurements are very precise, with the possibility to choose different wavelengths for the endpoint or kinetic measures. The instrument is used especially for ELISA and kinetics tests."

Easy to use!
Application Area:Fluorescence quantification
"The Synergy HTX has been quite easy to learn, implement, and use in the lab. The programming aspect is very user friendly and has a lot of customizability. Although learning the build seems overwhelming, it is actually pretty streamlined once you get familiar. Also, their tech support is amazing (Sam is the best). I highly recommend the product!"

Good and reproducible results, reliable instrument and software.
Application Area:Analyze P. aeruginosa growth pattern and reporter expression in different conditions
"The Synergy HTX microplate reader is very useful for analyzing bacterial growth and reporter gene expression in presence of different nutrients and/or antimicrobials as well as testing multiple mutants at once. It allows medium throughput applications with high sensitivity and delivers reproducible results. The hardware is simple to use with a flexible design (choosing between different light sources/filters) and looks durable, the software is very detailed and allows customization of each assay although sometimes seems over complicated. Customer service is good."

Easy to use, multipurpose instrument for student research projects and medical education.
Application Area:Medical student research projects
"Versatile instrument, intuitive user-friendly Gen5 software for operation of instrument and analysis of data. For undergraduate medical student projects, commercial assay kits are cost-effective for circumventing methods development for purifying and quantifying most body fluid concentrations of analytes."

Synergy family of readers provides an good platform for making ROS determinations.
Application Area:oxidative stress in gamete
"I am satisfied with the result. The Synergy family of readers provides an excellent platform for making Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) determinations in stimulated cells and sperm cell. The readers provide highly sensitive fluorescence detection through the use of dedicated optics in conjunction with deep blocking bandpass filters and a photomultiplier tube."

Reliable easy-to-use laboratory workhorse and Swiss Army knife.
Application Area:Absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence
"We shopped diligently for replacement of an aging Tristar multimode plate reader. We considered a number of plate-reader options on the current market. We concluded that the most competitively priced and user-friendly is the Synergy HTX (MultiMode/Modular/Upgradeable) S1LFA- Providing tunable absorbance (200 nm - 999 nm) for 6, 12, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 384 well plates, luminescence, and fluorescence (top and bottom) incubation to 50ºC and shaking. Includes the remarkably intuitive and user-friendly Gen5 software. BioTek included filter sets for DAPI/GFP/TxRed and RFP in the purchase. List Price $21,950. BioTek gave us TriStar trade-in = $16,000... generous."

Easy to use and works efficiently.
Application Area:ELISA
"The Synergy HTX is easy to use and works efficiently. The range of wavelengths gained from the monochromatometer and the ability to complete a sweep to obtain the optimal absorption is nice. I have not used the fluorescence or luminescence ability yet, but do have future plans for these options. The only problem that we have encountered was after receiving the absorbance test plate back from BioTek's calibration department, the C6 well failed (tests the monochromatometer) and Biotek's certification does not qualify this specific well. My calibration department still needs to determine if that is something that would need to be directly requested, so please take that into consideration if needed."

"The plate reader works very well with the accompanying Gen5 software and is easy to figure out. Our assays have shown us a good reproducibility on this machine. Only con was the customer service right after installation was not very helpful in figuring out a way to transfer files from the old Gen5 software over to this new one."
