Homepage has slight potential for improvement, not intuitive, but once you get used to it it's fine and it works reliably, never lost data when setting up sequencing jobs. If you don't have a colleague to show you just phone the technical support and they talk you through the process. Service at its best!"

"The process of ordering is relatively simple, but time consuming, and I wonder if a more efficient system could be implemented. The worst part is that their website often is unstable (independent of computer used), and during the ordering process it may take a while to get through steps, though hopefully this is a temporary issue. It could also be nice if instead of shipping labels, they shipped pre-labeled 1.5 ml tubes (barring a dramatic increase in price), to spare the process of labeling tubes. In terms of quality, we have experienced some issues with results, though it is most likely a result of issues with our samples, and not the sequencing service I hope. However, consistently when trying to dilute DNA concentrations to those recquired by GATC, the results are not good for us. It usually works better when the DNA concentration is above 100 ng/ul. We purify PCR fragment DNA ourselves and usually have DNA quality (260/280) between 1.7-1.8."

"The interface is user-friendly and the ability to import sample and primer names from an Excel spreadsheet is very useful. Sequencing results are returned promptly (usually within 24 hours) and generally good quality. We are able to store our primers on-site which are synthesized once the stock runs out, however there is a fall in data quality when the primer stocks get old which results in short and often unusable reads. This service would be improved by anticipating when this becomes apparent and then re-synthesizing primers immediately. - value for money score reflects this. However, if you are sending your own primers each time then GATC will provide consistent high quality data. The after sales care is terrific and staff are always very quick and helpful when called upon. They hold your samples for a short time after sequencing so you can start new jobs using those primers or DNA samples if you like."

"I get quite long reads (generally around 1000bp), the next day which is helpful to check cloning reactions fast. Sometimes I get failed runs and have to resend a second reactions with exactly the same DNA and primers but it is rare (probably one in 50 fails but works when I send it the second time around). The service is easy to use, required amounts of DNA are sometimes a bit high. 20uL of 100ng/ul of DNA is enough for 8 reactions so could 5 or 10uL be sent if there are 2 or 4 reactions only? What I like best is the fast and high quality service. What I like less is the amount of DNA I have to send, especially for PCR products."
