Submerged horizontal gels offer many advantages for nucleic acid separation, and have become a primary tool for the molecular biologist. Agarose gels are easy to cast and readily dissipate heat. These gels allow sample underlaying and prevent electrical field discontinuities caused by wicks or sample well dehydration. Horizontal systems are more economical and easier to use than vertical systems.
Sub-Cell GT DNA Electrophoresis Cell
The Sub-Cell GT cell is the most versatile submerged horizontal electrophoresis cell, offering the widest choice of gel lengths, sample combs, and separation modes. Up to 30 samples can be resolved over a distance of 25 cm. Using four rows of combs, the cell will run up to 120 analytical samples. Preparative separations of large amounts of sample are accomplished using a preparative comb. Sub-Cell GT systems are ideal in preparation for Southern and northern blotting experiments.
