The Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Array is a highly sensitive and specific assay for the simultaneous detection of 10 of the most prevalent pathogens implicated in sexually transmitted infection from a single patient sample in under 3 hours. STIs and related complications represent a significant public health issue in both developed and developing countries. Many infections are asymptomatic and remain undiagnosed, increasing the risk of unhindered spread. A reliable assay is therefore critical. Simultaneous screening for multiple STI pathogens will identify specific viral, protozoan or bacterial pathogens, permitting targeted antibiotic/anti-viral therapy. This will also identify secondary infections, which may otherwise remain undiagnosed.
