Precellys^®24 - Tissue Homogenizer by Bertin Technologies

"We use our system primarily for cell homogenization and analysis of cellular metabolites and proteins. For these purposes this machine works well in comparison to spiked samples of known metabolites etc. We have also used this for RNA isolation without any optimization and our initial results suggested RNA degradation (ratio of rRNA). We didn't bother optimizing conditions as traditional RNA extraction method was later proved to be sufficient. We have had this machine for over 5 years and have not required any service support. So can’t comment on after sales/ support. We have also tried this machine with OEM bead-tubes and they work fine. Over all it is okay at what it does. "

"Precellys is very useful for protein and RNA extraction. My best experience was with rat aortic rings, which normally does not work with traditional homogenizer. For this extraction you must use liquid nitrogen to homogenate it. However, you lose significant samples after each extraction. Besides, with liquid nitrogen you have to waste so much time. With Precellys, you only need to use ceramic spheres and select the strongest Precellys option."
