The customized compound management system combines the automated reformatting of microplates with additional liquid handling steps, capping and decapping of source tubes, sealing of destination plates and barcode labelling. Columnwise allocation of tips between the CyBi®-Well vario multichannel pipettor and a CyBi®-Diluspro 8-channel pipettor is realized via the disk platform. While the first accomplishes the reformatting itself, the second performs dilution series. Both are supplemented by a CyBi®-Drop dispenser to add DMSO. Before adding any reagent into destination plate wells, those can be flushed by an inert gas dispenser.

To accomplish true walk away automation the system includes adequate storage for the different plates as well as tip trays. Plate transports between the different modules are realized by a central robot that also performs the automatic tip change of the CyBi®-Well vario. An integrated visioning system as well as bar code reading together with the enhanced error handling and recovery ensures reliable function and smooth operation. Completed by a safety enclosure, the system does not only keep air conditions stable in a predefined range but also fulfils compulsory safety requirements.
