A workhorse in our laboratory
Application Area: qualitative analysis
"In our field we conduct qualitative analysis to identify samples that can be just about anything. FTIR is often our first step, and having the ability to anlyze microscopic samples or parts of larger samples is invaluable. I have used a handful of infrared microscopes, and I find the Thermo Continuum to be fantastic for those analysts with a background in microscopy. Although the newer microscope models are meant for non-microscopists and are largely computer driven and camera based, the Continuum's Olympus style microscope body fused with a Thermo FTIR bench allows for greater research versatility and sample sizes while still allowing for high quality diffraction limited imaging or point analysis. The microscope uses Omnic software for spectroscopy and Atlas software for imaging. These two programs are intuitive and allow rapid analysis and fast generation of report or publication quality spectral data."

"The FTIR microscope offers phenomenal resolution as well as accuracy in interpreting individual spectra. Ease of Use: After understanding tutorials the operation is second nature. After Care Use: Except for disposable; ie. various crystals, the $$$ is average. Value for Money is very good for amount of time in analysis required. "
