"Neurolucida is fairly easy to use in basic functions, but it can be complicated to set up the more advanced functions by yourself. However the company has amazing technical support. The main objective in our lab is to trace neurons and then get the data about structural morphology. The program gives a wealth of data on a neuron once it's traced. Manual tracing itself though does take a long time. You can get auto tracing for a higher price, but it will only work if you have very low background, and you must go back and check any auto tracing anyway. Some bugs don't allow the colors to look correct upon tracing, but that should be fixed in the next version as I mentioned it to the company and they said they would be fixing it."

"This is a versatile piece of software for imaging and tracing neurons. It has several additional modules you can add on, such as the Autoneuron, which is a rapid way to trace neurites. It's not perfect, there are several bugs, but customer service is top notched and the software is constantly being worked upon and improved."
