The MM400 is highly recommended. Our staff love it!
Application Area: Homogenization of muscle, liver, skin etc for stable isotope analysis.
"Our lab has used the MM400 for about 1.5 years. We use it to homogenize muscle, skin, liver, whole invertebrate samples prior to stable isotope and fatty acid analysis. We primarily used a mortar and pestle or bullet blender but the MM400 has largely replaced both other methods. It's fast and does a consistently thorough job of homogenizing samples. The machine has been heavily used with no mechanical issues. Extra grinding jars of multiple sizes are a must to get the most productivity out of the homogenizer. Additional grinding jars are costly but well worth the investment as they are solidly built. Being a closed grinding system the MM400 reduces the chance of lab personnel being exposed to tissue aerosols."

Thanks to MM 400 designer and manufacturer. It is helpful for my job.
Application Area:Sample prep for XRF
"I am happy to use MM400 for my live laboratory. In addition, many users are also so interested in our MM400 and satisfied with the results of analyzing data with XRF. It helps us with cost-saving to experiment with continuous sample grinding and homogenizing. It would be specified as a standard machine for XRF marketplaces."

Very good result for fast milling
Application Area:Frit and ceramic raw materials analysis
"This product is efficient tool for rapid grinding of glass and ceramic materials but the customer serrvice after purchasing from the local agent is poor. We were buying a previous mill (RM 100) but when it needed a maintainance, the agent was not able to fix it well."

Good general purpose mill
Application Area:Milling samples
"Can mill a wide variety of samples, and have an efficiency of milling tailored by altering the number, size, and material of milling balls, adjusting the ratio of sample: milling balls: empty space, and the length of time. Minimal training is required. Some shortcomings include time spent cleaning in between samples when cross-contamination is an issue, and a small amount of sample loss when retrieving from the chamber. Hardened steel is not acid resistant, get stainless instead."

Saves a lot of time.
Application Area:Can mix all types of sample in a food lab
"Before this machine we used a little kitchen mixer and it was a disaster. Now we use a mixer from Retsch and have no problems with the samples."

Great for homogenous powdering of tissue samples whilst frozen.
Application Area:Homogenising mouse tissue samples - dry or lysis
"We have been using the Retsch MixerMill 400 to dry grind our mouse tissue samples while keeping them cold. This machine has allowed us to finely grind the tissue to a powder while keeping the samples frozen and then aliquot the homogenous powder for multiple downstream uses. The racks can be prechilled in a liquid nitrogen bath, removed for grinding and then straight back onto liquid nitrogen to keep the samples frozen. We can do 20 x 2mL tubes at one time substantially saving us time compared to hand grinding one by one. Additionally, we have used this for several lysis protocols including lysing in phenol for RNA extraction and into lysis buffers for protein analysis."

Good results, easy to use.
Application Area:Sample homogenization
"The mixer mill Retsch MM 400 is a compact bench-top unit, which has been developed specially for grinding or milling of small amounts of sample. It can mix and homogenize powders and suspensions or disrupt biological cells as well as for DNA/RNA and protein extraction."
The Mixer Mill MM 400 is an extremely versatile mill that can effectively grind small volumes of up to 2 x 20 ml in both dry, wet and cryogenic conditions.
Its powerful mixing capability, operating at a frequency of 30 Hz, enables it to homogenize powders and suspensions in a matter of seconds, making it an indispensable tool for quick and easy processing. The compact benchtop unit is ideal for various homogenization processes and is particularly useful for biological cell disruption, such as DNA/RNA and protein extraction.
Additionally, the MM 400 can process for extended periods of up to 99 hours, making it perfect for mechanochemistry research applications. The performance and flexibility of the MM 400 are unmatched in the market, with no comparable technology available.
