"We have been using the LB940 for the last 10 years on a daily basis. It is a workhorse with a small footprint, excellent signal stability, and high reproducibility, even for samples with low fluorescence and luminescence signals. The instrument is completely software controlled, by software that is self-explanatory to use. Programming for any mode of plate reading, reagent injecting, and data analysis is a breeze. Although we don't have local Berthold representatives in our country, we have received excellent after-sales technical support through remote access to the instrument PC workstation, and electronic communication with technical support. Compared to the competition, time has proven this device to be the best value for money, with practically zero maintenance costs and excellent performance."

Several excellent papers produced with Mithras 940!

"Mithras machine was an accurate and provided several opportunities for measurements, kinetics, injection into kinetics, fluorescence polarization with several formats, robust filter optics. Unfortunately, the running software and the training service was not fine. However, the use and access of raw data helped to use other software like R, Origin etc."

"Great machine which allows you to obtain reliable and repetitive results. The software is user-friendly. Unfortunately, you cannot monitor CO2 presence and I think that this aspect should be improved in order to achieve greater pharmacokinetic analysis in vitro."

"This machine is one of the finest products from Berthold. I have been using this reader for 5 years without a single complaint. This multi-functional equipment is sturdy durable and reliable in accuracy. It comes with Mikrowin software with protocols for almost all standard assays. The software is user friendly and gives the user the liberty to change the plate type, optic filters and substrate type you are using. I would recommend this equipment as a must for all immunology and molecular biology labs. Customer services are up to the mark and provide you with all updates and upgraded software free without making any demands. This machine helps you to do simple assays like luminescence, ELISA reading too complicated for BRIT and fluorescence MOI. This all in one machine is really good value for money and worth buying."

Mithras LB 940 multimode microplate reader offers now all comprehensive technologies used in today´s research:

The Mithras multilabel reader operates with a dedicated optical path system (DOPS): for each reading technology there is an optimum optical system guaranteeing high sensitivity and wide dynamic range for all measurements.
 
Detection Limits of less than 6 attomol ATP in luminescence mode and less than 2 attomol Europium in time-resolved fluorescence mode are impressive examples for the outstanding performance.

Mithras can be supplemented with up to 4 reagent injectors – based on the proven and highly precise and accurate JET injection technology – and a temperature control unit for the microplates.
 
All these features offer extensive opportunities to the users to perform a huge number of applications including kinase activities, second messengers (e.g. cAMP, IP-One), GPCRs, phagocytosis, calcium flux, cell viability, apoptosis, protein and DNA determinations, reporter gene assays or protein-protein interactions.

Optical emission filters can be used in Mithras´s high-efficiency luminescence optics to get unsurpassed results in BRET (e.g. functional assays for GPCR research) and multicolour luminescence (luciferase reporter gene assays).

The software is supporting a multitude of functions including standard curves and kinetic data reduction and meets the 21 CFR part 11 requirements.

For higher throughput Mithras LB 940 multitechnology plate reader may be equipped with the Stacker unit LB 931.
