Reliable results, tricky software, special care needed.
Application Area: Capillary electrophoresis
"The main use for us was protein and HbA1c capillary electrophoresis. It can do other tests like CDT, hemoglobin, immunotyping. Calibration is stable for months for the same lot number only and is done for HbA1. For proteins there is no need. Controls are stable enough, must be frozen but it's hard to fit every parameter in Levy Jennings chart. Speed is very good only for proteins, for HbA1c it is around 8 samples/hour. Capillaries may be stressed much more if you work with whole blood so you'll have to change them more often for HbA1c. Software is a dropdown because of some errors and blockages. Sometimes reaction cups fall down and may block the movement. Some errors may need a full restart of the system. It needs special wash and even supplementary activation after HbA1c, so you have to add more time for this too (50 min.) The costs and reliability of the results are very good so if the time is not a big issue the Minicap fully automated is a good choice. There are 2 variants: 2 and 8 capillaries, the last needing a bigger volume of work to compensate the startup for 8 capillaries. Owning for 3.5 years now. "
The MINICAP FLEX PIERCING instrument offers flexibility for small to medium size laboratories.
The fully automated instrument meets the needs of the laboratory while providing clear-cut and precise separations utilizing the capillary electrophoresis technology. This multi-parameter instrument offers a comprehensive menu on serum and whole blood for Protein, Immunotyping, HbA1c, Hemoglobin and CDT (Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin) testing.
For whole blood testing, the capped tubes are gently inverted to ensure adequate mixing of the samples providing accurate results. The instrument provides complete walk-away automation reducing overall labor requirements.
