Description
Bio-Rad's new 1D electrophoresis cell runs mini gels in less than an hour or 2D gels in less than a day.
First introduced over 20 years ago, the Bio-Rad mini-gel protein electrophoresis system has become the solution of choice around the world for both handcast and precast gel users. The Mini-PROTEAN® Tetra Cell delivers unparalleled ease-of-use with its patented clamping frame.
The Mini-PROTEAN Tetra cell is the next-generation mini cell for 1D vertical gel electrophoresis. This electrophoresis cell incorporates innovative, user-friendly features that make running protein or DNA on polyacrylamide gels easier than ever. The cell is durable, versatile, easy to assemble, and can run up to four precast or handcast polyacrylamide gels.
Key Features
• Runs 1-4 mini polyacrylamide gels in 30 min
• Exclusive sample-loading guides direct pipette tips into sample wells - no more missing or doubling up samples in a lane
• Leak-free electrophoresis and gel casting
• Indestructible molded polycarbonate construction throughout
• Ability to run either precast or handcast gels

"This system can run 4 gels together and is very convenient; saves a lot time. But it needs a lot more running buffer than the old version 2-gel system." |

"This western blotting system comes fully equipped to get you up and running with up to 4 mini gels in the classic Bio-Rad format. The initial choice of gel formats (1mm or 1.5mm) and combs (5, 10, 15 well) allows for a good initial investment with the ability to expand as resources become available. The backward compatibility with mini-Protean II allows for the use of lab resources already present. Two issues have arisen that reduce the rating down to 4 stars. One is common amongst the mini-protean system: the frequency that the little green tabs at the ends of the combs snap off causing the loss of wells. The second concern is the tendency for the gasket to leak between the inner and outer buffers. These two issues are common in the Bio-Rad system in my experience, but the benefits do outweigh these two issues. I have recommended that my colleagues buy this product and when I am equipping my own lab I intend to continue to use Bio-Rad mini-protean systems." |

"This is a great product. I run at least 2 westerns a week in the lab and I have always had positive experiences when using these products. Bio Rad is a great company and I look forward to working with them in the future." |

"The system works fairly well, but it would be better if one could analyze more samples. Additionally the price is a bit high." |

"Overall, the mini protein tetra cell from Biorad allows you to run 4 gels at once. It saves buffer. The only thing that is a problem is that there is not a transfer blot equivalent to use with the buffer chamber. Otherwise, it's nice to be able to run 4 gels in one apparatus- although hard to load middle gels if not experienced." |

"It’s great to use. Easy to use. Very convenient. Although it’s expensive, I consider it worthy to buy. Biorad has a lot of other accessory stuff for western blot which can be bought as well." |

"These gels are great. Easy to run and use. They are a bit sturdier and won’t break on you. Protein runs even and transfers well." |

"The Mini-Protean Tetra Cell provided by Bio-Rad is easy to use. The protein bands separated are clear. It is not time-consuming. The data produced each time is consistent. However, the price of the gels is a little high. I am not satisfied with the shipping fee." |

"Even though Western blotting is a long process with many steps, the Tetra system makes the tedious work easier. The system is easy to use when following the instructions. I would recommend this system to those who do a lot of westerns, but not for those using fixed concentration pre-cast gels." |

"Lovely modular system, can use pre-cast and make own gels. Easy to use- best system on the market. However it can leak so it is best to top up completely with buffer rather than to the suggested line. I would recommend it." |
