I am also a trainer for this instrument in my organization and all other users speak highly of it. The fact that it is booked almost everyday tells how useful it is. For those who are upgrading from MasterSizer2000, you may need several rounds of iteration to make sure that method transfer is done accurately. That was the case for me."

We use it in a range of applications, conditions and set up to elucidate information on our product and process. There is tons of data to play with to best understand the properties of your material The information available regarding training and the equipments use is easy to find and very useful. With it, we have developed methods to best represent our samples by minimising errors. I would suggest paying for the extra online training. It offers invaluable information to get you started. From that, you should make your own in-house resource - in our case we designed flow diagrams for best practise given different situations. Ease of use: We had some issues getting started with in initially, however, with the resources online we soon became daily users. After sale care: I had the contacts for the engineer and sales manager who came for the demo day. They have been useful, but the general sales/help email service is just has effective. Value for money: For us, this is now part of our QC."

"The analyzer is used for bioprocess application. The limitation of the instrument is that the samples gets diluted and I think the dilution of my sample leads to may affect the particle size. The results are reproducible. The system is easy to use. It is important to say the refractive index of material and sample is necessary for testing. Because, if the material is complex and the refractive index is unknown it would lead to false particle size. The instrument is easy to use but a through video on operation of the instrument would be great. I had a hard time getting answers from tech support on the refractive index of the material. It is definitely worth the money."

"The equipment is easy to use and does not require daily calibration. Calibration is done annually and our group has Malvern do this annually. Training could be better and it should be on-line. Dry particle analysis is very easy for free-flowing materials. It gets more difficult when the moisture content is higher and the product is sticky in nature. This is where training would help or helpful hints. The wet analysis is very easy. Hydration of material could be an issue and the lab needs to experiment with the time of hydration versus particle size. Data is typically taken directly from the results page. Reports would be nice if we were trained to do so. Again, training would be helpful. This would apply to all vendors and teach customers how to design reports from their software. The software has errored only a few times in 3 years but it is a mystery when it happens and the solution was to restart the software. The cost of the equipment is high. The information is valuable to us. Service contract or Annual maintenance is high but probably in -line with other vendors. The equipment is reliable"

"Ease of use"

"As a particle analyzer by laser diffraction method, the reliability of inspection results is very high. However, there are many sensitive parts depending on the sample, and cleaning and managing the lens is also very important. A stable state should be maintained during the inspection preparation stage, but as the inspection equipment ages, the maintenance in that state seems to be gradually shorter. "

"Hydro LV unit is ok when water is used but other solvents(like ethanol, heptane) make bubbles which may affect the test result. We are also using Mastersizer 2000G in which the sieve analysis calculation is a helpful tool that doesn't take place for 3000. I'd rather prefer to have this option for 3000 instrument software too. Moreover, for 2000G, the stirrer unit has three controls which are ultrasound, stirrer, and pump. But for 3000 LV unit, there is only stirrer and ultrasound options. This is not enough to overcome the bubbling problem. In my opinion, the pump should also be one of the controls like in Mastersizer 2000G."
