Produces decent results but could be improved
Rating: 3.7

  • Application Area: Sizing of nanoparticles

"The product seems effective though I am having some issue with reproducibility. The manual could use some improvement but over all, use is easy and it provides good data,"

The Nanosight NS500 is useful .UK helpdesk leaves customers frustrated.
Rating: 2.7

  • Application Area:Particle sizing of biological specimens - eg exosomes

"While the machine and software are easy to use, the after sales service we have received is tardy, unfriendly and unwilling to assist customers in their requests and needs. This products is supplied with parts that are known to malfunction (as mentioned by the tech support team), and the replacements parts are expensive. I've actively started discouraging colleagues in supporting Malvern."

The Malvern NanoSight NS500 instrument provides an easy-to-use, reproducible platform for nanoparticle characterization.

The NS500 provides detailed and intuitive analysis of the size distribution and concentration of all types of nanoparticles from 10nm to 2000nm in diameter, depending on the instrument configuration and sample type being analyzed. Single particle zeta potential measurements on the NS500 provide inherent high resolution zeta distributions which can be measured simultaneously with other NTA measurements parameters like size, particle concentration and can even operate whilst in fluorescence mode.

Samples are introduced into the viewing chamber using the integrated fluidics capability. On-screen pump control allows for automatic sample handling, including loading, washing and dilution. Software-controlled motorized optical stages enable rapid relocation and refocusing following cleaning, improving reproducibility. Sample temperature is fully programmable through the Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) software.

This versatile instrument offers an adaptable format, with the option of fluorescence detection capability. The integrated fluidics mean sample loading, cleaning and analysis can all be automated, and with the Autosampler accessory; multiple analyses can be performed without the operator being present, freeing up valuable researcher time.
