Great and affordable instrument for small labs!
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Cytokine measurements using small volumes of serum or plasma

"Cytokine measurements using small volumes of serum or plasma are possible, and besides availability in the market already for years, the ease of use and the quality of simultaneous measurements are very good. Kits from many suppliers can be run on the system, and hence it is a working horse in my lab."

MagPix is one of the world's best instruments for multiplexing capacity.
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:Detect respiratory pathogens from human samples

"We are using the Luminex RVP Fast kit on the MAGPIX system to detect human respiratory viruses. The main advantage of running this assay on MAGPIX is that users can simultaneously detect up to 16 different pathogens in only one tube for each patient sample. Such robust multiplexing capacity from Luminex brings the highest convenience to users, maximizes the number of testing samples per run and saves hands-on time as well as labor. The maximum number of samples per run using this assay on MAGPIX is 94 samples. In the other hand, when using an alternative method like real-time PCR, this number just reach to 22 samples. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding the ease in using assay on MAGPIX, I appreciate the intuitive user interactive design of the xPONENT software which is used to control the MAGPIX and run the assay. Every function, like batch running, maintenance, logging could be carried out quickly. Furthermore, the connection between MAGPIX and software on PC is always stable, so I never worry about data losing. Luminex also provides the Test Data Analyzing Software (TDAS) for each assay. Users just need to read the data sent out by xPONENT on the suitable TDAS and get the results very quickly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the after-sales care, I am very happy with the training at the first runs delivered by Luminex people. We were carefully trained about the routine maintenance work to make sure the MAGPIX instrument always in good condition. Sometimes, we got unknown troubles, and they promptly supported us remotely or even on site. In addition, Luminex people also gave us a lot of good lab practices which we could apply to get higher efficiency and prevent future troubles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With mentioned benefits of the assay on MAGPIX, I recognized the costs of instrument and assay were acceptable. Just paying a little high cost for assay, you will be able to get a high testing performance, maximized convenience with high volume of samples, as well as to save lab labor and time."

Love the ease of developing multiplex assays using both the MagPix and Luminex 200.
Rating: 4.0

  • Application Area:Multiplex antigen detection

"We are currently moving from Luminex 200 to MagPix and the advantage is ease of use (both systems use similar software), lower sample volume with the MagPix (50 uL over 100 uL sample), and use of mylar plates over filter bottom plates has prevented clogging from complex samples. The MagPix uses mush less fluid volume, making it easier to maintain. It is also a smaller platform using up less bench space. Both systems are excellent and work well repeatedly with very little problems (virtually none)."

Compact, Reliable Work Horse for Cytokine Analysis
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:Cytokine Analysis

"The machine is a very compact, bench top work horse in our laboratory. The machine can produce reams of data due to the ability to multiplex. We routinely test cell culture sups., serum, plasma, and BALF in our laboratory. There are many little steps involved in setting up the instrument before a run can be completed, but they are not very complex. Maintenance is not very complicated either, but again involves many little steps. The technical support staff are wonderful. We were using the machine so much, we purchased a second one. Overall, I would give this instrument very high marks."

Robust, easy to use and quick analysis
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Proteomics

"One of the most user friendly pieces of instrument. Robust, hardly any service required and very easy to use. The software Xponent has been developed in such a way that a beginner can operate the instrument very easily. I am using it analyse really low abundant proteins that I cannot analyse using Mass Spectrometry. I would definitely recommend it to people. "
