"This microscope has been very useful for elucidating the layout of Corticotropin-Releasing Factor (CRF) neurons in the rat brain. The lasers are powerful and software easy to use. Customer service has also been quite excellent."

"This instrument has helped me to visualize, measure and quantify synapses and neurite markers that has played critical role in the progress of my research. Thanks to Carl Zeiss Confocal microscope, my project has been able to go on smoothly. I would definitely like to recommend this amazing product to anyone who is beginning confocal microscopy. I started using this without any prior experience with microscopy but I had no problem getting around this, thanks!"

"This product is very useful as it allows me to search through multiple layers of my tissue with ease. I find that the software with this microscope works very well and guides me through the instructions of how to operate the microscope swiftly. I also enjoy that I can change my objective lenses very easily and that I can switch between oil and water lenses very easily. I also like that the product is not very confusing with ten million buttons, instead there are only a few manageable buttons that I can use to control the software and equipment."

"The LSM 700 is driven by either manual use or through Zeiss software (ZEN). ZEN allows for very easy imaging but is limited in its post-processing applications. Also, one thing I wish I had known was that the software saves images in a Zeiss specific format which does not work with many other commercial products."

"It has very high resolution, but there are many software errors and it is hard to adjust the joystick. There is a frequent program error where the colour is different on saved files compared to the image on the monitor. The software is flexible, although the image through the microscope and the image on the monitor is quite different, especially when the figures are exported to another computer."

"There are some problems between the direct optic image and the monitors image, I hope someone will address the problems in this area."

"Novice microscope users can immediately use microscope and image using Smart Set up. Very low signal to noise ratio. Samples that I was never able to image using the Zeiss 510, I can now image with the Zeiss 700M. New Zen software is much more user friendly than AMs software."
