Lentil Lectin Sepharose media is used for purification of a number of glycoproteins and other carbohydrate containing molecules. The lentil lectin ligand has more equal affinity for α-D-mannose and α-D-glucose compared to Con A. Lentil lectin is a metalloprotein, containing Ca2₊ and Mn2₊, which binds reversibly to polysaccharides and glycoconjugates containing glucose or mannose type sugars. Lentil Lectin Sepharose 4B is a generally applicable group specific adsorbent and is routinely used in t... Read more

  • Application Area: Protein Purification

"Lentil Lectin Sepharose 4B is an affinity resin produced by GE HealthCare Life Sciences. This resin is used for purification of a number of glycoproteins. The resin has high affinity for glycoproteins and can binds 16 milligrams of protein per ml of resins. I recommend this resin for purification of glycoproteins."

Lentil Lectin Sepharose 4B is a generally applicable group specific adsorbent and is routinely used in the preparation and purification of a number of glycoproteins and carbohydrate containing molecules.

Features:

  • Binds molecules that contain α-D-mannose, α-D-glucose, and sterically related residues
  • Retains binding in 1% deoxycholate and is especially valuable for purification of detergent-solubilized membrane proteins
  • Lentil lectin is a metalloprotein, containing Ca2₊ and Mn2₊, which binds reversibly to polysaccharides and glycoconjugates containing glucose or mannose type sugars
  • Compared to Con A, also for glycoprotein purification, Lentil Lectin distinguishes less sharply between glucosyl and mannosyl
