"An upgradeable, flexible UV/Vis system, you can modify each parameter affecting the light beam from the lamp to the detector, even it is possible to use your own source of light. So, it is very useful if you can carry out measurements with non-routine parameters. The performance and reproducibility of the measurements between 200 nm and 900 nm is very good. You can use different modules in order to measure the UV-vis spectra of solution, or the diffuse reflectance spectra of powders... I used this equipment largely to calculate the band gap of semiconductor nanoparticles with very reliable and reproducible results. The only drawback may be the higher cost of the equipment compared to other more routine equipment. "
