It was a good experience. WIll use LGC again in future.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area: Genotyping to validate SNPs identified earlier

"Good quality results. Initially there were some misunderstanding in what LGC understood about my requirement although my email was very clear. Mistakes were rectified immediately and I got a few more SNPs genotyped as a good will gesture from LGC. In all and all it was very easy to work with LGC."

Excellent - a quick and reliable way to genotype.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Genotyping

"We originally started using KASP genotyping assays for SNP genotyping but have found it so easy to use and cost-effective that we have now switched to genotyping all our insertion and deletion mutations this way as well. We have had bespoke assays designed and the support has been great."

It is easy to use but you need all the instruments in house to perform it.
Rating: 3.3

  • Application Area:Genotyping

"The service is very good and the primers + master mix are easy to use. But it is very expensive (at least the PCR master mix) and you need all the instruments like special pcr cycler, pcr plates and so on already. For a one time experiment it might be too expensive for genotyping."

"Super fast method for analyzing large numbers of samples. This product is helpful for analyzing segregating population on a large scale. For example, searching for the EMS mutated candidate gene responsible for the phenotype in segregating population after outcross. Only 3 components (DNA of interest, KASP reagent and KASP assay) required, therefore very easily done in 96 well plate. Easy to analyze the results. Mostly no false positive observed. One of best, quick and easy assay in my PhD work."

"Multiplexing PCR reactions, this product gives a consistent amplification performance."

Review date: 21 Aug 2014 | KASP Genotyping Chemistry

The patented KASP™ genotyping method is a homogeneous, FRET-based end-point PCR assay that enables accurate bi-allelic discrimination of known SNPs and InDels.

Unlike other PCR-based genotyping assays, KASP requires no labelling of the target-specific primers or probes, giving it a clear cost advantage. It also allows greater flexibility for assay design, which translates into a higher overall success rate and the unique ability to genotype large / mega InDels. The KASP genotyping technology was developed for use in our own service laboratories where it has been in use for over 10 years, generating over 1 billion datapoints. Today KASP has nearly 2,000 published references.

Whether purchased as a product for use in your laboratory, or as a genotyping service at our state of the art genotyping laboratories in Europe and North America, KASP genotyping delivers accurate results and significant cost savings so customers can get the most out of their research budget. KASP genotyping is based on an open format PCR workflow. There is no need to buy new expensive equipment to be able to run KASP in your own laboratory; completed KASP reactions can be read on most FRET-capable plate readers and qPCR instruments.

Features:

  • Accuracy: >99.8% based on independent assessment
  • Industry leading SNP & InDel assay conversion rate (>90%)
  • Flexible primer design which increases the rate of successful assay development
  • Supports low, medium and high-throughput studies and individual repeat assays
  • Compatibility with a wide range of liquid handling systems and thermal cyclers, signal can be read on most FRET-capable plate readers and qPCR instruments
  • Breakthrough cost savings

Applications:

  • Many applications in plant, animal, human and microbial research
  • Plant Marker-assisted selection for crop improvement (including MARS and MABC)
  • Fingerprinting / parental screening
  • SNP validation
  • Field trial genotyping
  • Animal Marker-assisted selection for livestock breeding
  • Speciation
  • Sample provenance and quality control
  • Mapping traits within disease models and breeding populations (e.g. zebrafish, mouse, rat)
  • Speed congenics
  • Human Genetic variant analysis for human disease research
  • Cohort studies
  • Disease SNP replication/validation studies
