Good device and easy to handle

"I think the product is very useful, but it would be better if the voltage of the counterelectrode (responisble voltage) have a wider range, because sometimes there are distances and memebranes inbetween and a overload occurs. That would be easier with a higher responsible voltage of the counter electrode."

"Gamry has an astounding reputation and its for a great reason. We use their 5000E interfaces on a day to day basis for analyzing electrochemical reactions and characterizing materials. The equipment is incredibly sensitive, accurate and easy to use. Their software is quite user friendly and has astounding capabilities for retrofitting operations to your daily needs. We highly recommend this product for anyone who is interested in detailed assessment of electrochemical processes. Gamry has spanned their capabilities to a variety of power levels which offers benchtop evaluation systems with easy scalability."

IFC 5000E is great for Li-Ion Battery testing.

"We're using four IFC 5000E for battery characterization and ageing diagnosis in our research battery laboratory. The results of those tests are used to assess the safety of aged/EOL Li-Ion batteries for further sencond life use. We really like the ease of use. You can just connect multiple IFC 5000E to a PC and the software automatically detects and connects them. The software for the experiments is very easy to use. What we'd wish to see for next generation equipment is a ethernet connection."

Pros: Great capabilities, experiment sequences are easy to build, easy to use, portable, the knowledge database/documentation on Gamry’s website is unparalleled, great customer service, inexpensive, 5 A current. Cons: Short cables (that make for better impedance results, yet can make it hard to reach), the cables are stiff and can get damaged by bending"

"The instrument is perfect for the application in terms of catalysis where the current range is from micro to milli amperes and the sensitivity is very good in that range. The best part is the dual electrometer where you can record both anode and cathode data as well as impedance for both anode and cathode. Even using a higher current range for fuel cells and electrolysers provides good sensitivity and stability. Thus, providing a solution for both lower and higher current density applications with much lower cost compared to other potentiostats. The service provided after salee is excellent as I have received great support every time I have had some questions. Responses are given within a day or two and they have gone out of their way to helping me develop new methods for my specific requirements."

"Sometimes we get reliable and reproducible results, sometimes not. Recently we have faced some problems with charge-discharge test that related to the software problem of Gamry apparently. The articles form Gamry are normally very useful, but not very specific sometimes to tackle our issues when we face them."

High price–performance ratio potentiostat.

"I have used the Interface 5000E and 1010E to achieve relatively high-quality and reproducible results. It is easy to use. However, the electrochemical noise technique limits the duration of data collection. Our experiment requires the data record frequency of 2Hz for months, whereas the Gamry Interface 1010E restricts the time duration length. Therefore, we have to stop the electrochemical noise program and resume the data collection again every two days. The sequence function in Gamry workstation is not as straightfoward as that of BioLogic instrument. It would be helpful if the Gamry software could selectively show one CV cycle plot in continuous CV cycles. This has been realized in BioLogic instrument. Specifically, if I collected 10 CV cycles continuously. In the BioLogic electrochemical workstation software (EC-lab), I can select and show one specific CV cycle among 10 cycles. However, the Gamry software (Gamry Echem Analyst) only show all overlapped 10 CV cycles. Overall, the ease of use is 85%. I have not used after-sales care. The Gamry Interface series have better value for money compared to other commercial potentiostats."

"Mainly we use Gamry 5000E for the electrochemical studies of solid state batteries and fuel cells. The product is pretty compact. After using potentiostats from other manufacturers I think that the Gamry user interface is intuitive and user friendly. Impedance data is pretty reliable on solid state batteries. Can think of including FRA in all potentiostat models."

Good current capabilities without booster. No online parameter edition

"The installation of the Gamry is quite straightforward. However, the description of the applications is somehow confusing for batteries. There are no illustration on how connections must be done. For instance, the definition of half cell and full cell is different in chemistry or in engineering. An illustration would be useful. Also, the implementation of tests do not allow to modify the parameters during operation. For long measurements such as those related to battery aging, that can last for 15 days to 1 month, online parameter edition is critical. Up to now, accuracy and resolution meet expectations. Also, its size is practical for mobile applications. No external booster is required, which is very practical."

Convenient, accurate with good results

"I used the Interface 5000E Potentiostat for 1.5 months. It is very convenient compared to the Zahner-Zennium (Germany). The result is accurate and as the same as that of tested from Solartron (English). Now, my lab has three Zenniums. Well, my favourite is the Interface 5000E. Spent the least money and you get a great return."

The Interface 5000E potentiostat is designed for cell-level testing of various energy storage and conversion devices and includes capabilities for monitoring both half cell voltages in addition to the whole cell voltage during an experiment.

A second electrometer gives you the ability to monitor both half cells in a typical three electrode setup. You can monitor both the anode and cathode in addition to the entire cell in charge/discharge experiments and EIS experiments.
