"I have had 2 experiences with this instrument. First during a demo where I tried a few microplates, and next as a loaner while our original IXM was being repaired. Overall, I think this is a great upgrade to the original instrument. The most important feature is that the camera is larger and has a new type of light source (LED) which is rated for 10,000 hours instead of 1000, so bulb changes will be much less frequent. They claim the instrument is 3x faster, and while this is technically true, it is only so for instances where you are imaging at high magnification 10x+ and you would wish to capture more than one field. The machine itself isn't any faster, it simply collects images that are 3x larger. Nevertheless, this is really terrific for those who want to speed up their high content imaging. I rate this instrument highly, and recommend it fully." |
