"I love the iBlot system, used with Blot mini gel tank I can pretty much finish a Western in One day. It would normally take me three days using the old system but I find this very useful! "

"This piece of equipment, with the accompanying inserts (sold separately) is a wonderfully fast semi-dry/dry blotting system that is very useful when time is tight and personnel are limited. Drawbacks include a drop in sensitivity relative to conventional transfer systems, a tendency for uneven transfer, and variable degrees of copper stains on the resulting membranes. I do not know how this product compares to the iBlot2 system. Typically easy to use, provided one does not damage the thin gels during assembly. I would rank this as having less overall value than a conventional wet transfer system due to the cost of the consumables and decreased reliability compared to conventional systems, but this may be a necessary trade-off when results are needed rapidly."

"I find the system not especially useful for transfer of western blot plus not particularly more effective than traditional semi wet or wet transfers. It also requires the purchase of one use reagents which makes the system rather expensive and inconvenient."

"iBlot system is good for low molecular weight protein but not for high molecular weight protein. One needs to standardize case by case if the iBlot system is suitable for use in any particular situation."

"The iBlot system from Invitrogen is time saving. It is a convenient system for transferring your western blot and lets you finish your western blotting in a day-that includes running your gel to visualizing it. My blots always came out clean and its very user friendly. Having said that, it’s a little on the expensive side. Also watch out if you are going for the nitrocellulose membrane. If you are planning on stripping and r- probing go for the PVDF. They are better than the nitrocellulose. Happy Blotting!"

"I started use iBlot@7-minute blotting system 2 years ago. The blotting system is very useful. Really save a lot time. And very efficiently. Before, we usually transfer a membrane for more than 2 hrs, but now, I can finish in 7 minutes. I never worry about not going home on time!"

"This product is easy to use and competitive. We are using this one frequently and it showed reliable data. But the price keeps going up. Even so I would like to continue to use it. Also I would like to find good sources for chemicals which is relatively cheap and has high purity."

"It is very easy to use and saves a lot of time. You can start your western gel running in the afternoon and finish before end of the day. Very easy to use and apply on different gels from different company. However it does generate some heat."

"After years of 30-180 minute transfers, the iBlot system is a 7-8 minute breeze. The quality of the blot is as good or better than the old technique, but the speed of transfer makes overnight transfers a thing of the past. Some optimization is recommended, even if you think the default is giving great results, try a couple of the others to confirm."

"The iBlot system is very easy to use and very fast in comparison to traditional transfer methods. It is user-friendly, quick and works well, because of this I would recommend it. However, the only downside is that components of the transfer such as the copper gel and sponge are not reusable, which feels a little bit wasteful."
A self-contained unit, the iBlot® device uses disposable blotting stacks with integrated nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes, offering the convenience of a bufferless, plug-and-play system.
In addition to ease and convenience, the iBlot® system offers high-efficiency protein transfers for high downstream detection sensitivity—in many cases, higher than wet and semi-dry transfer methods. In the end, you’ll achieve more accurate detection using less sample.
The iBlot® 7-Minute Blotting System is designed to work with multiple polyacrylamide gel sizes, including the midi size, fitting Novex® Midi Gels (8 x 13 cm), E-PAGE™ 48 and 96 gels (13.5 x 10.8 cm), and mini gels (8 x 8 cm).
