"The i-STAT is by far one of the easiest instruments to train point of care (nursing) staff on. We utilize it in our cath lab, ICU, and CT locations as well as a backup in our main lab (G3+, Chem8+, ACT, cTNI).

The i-STAT has very few pre-analytical variables unlike other point of care instruments which raises the standard of care across users. It has also helped us remain compliant through QC lockout and QC scheduling. The use of operator expiration notification helps with organizing 600+ operators competencies as I no longer have to tell each operator when they're expiring.

One negative I would like to mention is that the manufacturers CAL/VER material does not go down to the high and low end for some analytes such as cTNI which has left us using other material to verify our reportable ranges. "
