Simple to use, easy maintenance, and quick results
Application Area:DNA Library QC
"The HiSeq 2500 is very simple to use, and gives high quality results in a quick turn around time. The system works best when used frequently, and is very easy to maintain. The use of two flowcells means many samples can be QCed at once."

NGS instrument
Application Area:ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, RIP_seq, DRIP-Seq,ATAC-Seq, SeqCapEPI, smallRNA,Amplicon, CRISPR
"We achieve really high quality of data and reproducibility. The price of consumables to run flowcell is really high. Advice from Illumina is really rare"

Great results, high flexibility, getting more expensive to operate
Application Area:DNA sequencing
"The HiSeq 2500 provides unparalleled flexibility among Illumina's instrument lineup. Many options for high output and rapid runs. The current 4 dye chemistry provides excellent data quality. A patterned flow cell for HiSeq would extend the life of the instrument for many labs. The annual service contract is far too expensive"

Flexible, massive output, simple protocol, good after-sale service
Application Area:Whole genome and targeted DNA sequencing
"Very simple and direct protocol, from checking the quality of DNA to running the sequencing libraries in HiSeq. Most importantly, HiSeq offers such flexibility, I can sequence organisms with smaller genome to organisms with huge genome. What I need is to know how much output I need, then I can select Single Flow Cell or Double Flow Cell, high output mode or rapid run mode, then select the read length I prefer, ranging from 1x36bp to 2x125bp. I can even customize the read length I prefer. There is even an online Illumina Sequencing Coverage Calculator. With this calculator, I know what mode to go for, what kit to buy and how deep the coverage of the sample. The output for the HiSeq 2500 is huge. Thus, it has a relatively low cost-per-base. Illumina has this BaseSpace apps, in which you can install into your phone and monitor your sequencing experiment. You can even log into BaseSpace via your computer to monitor your run and even share your experiment monitoring with your colleagues. The after-sale service is good, as they will try they very best to answer my questions. When my sequencing experiments failed due to reagents or instrument issue, the company will replace the kits."
