"HiPrep 26/10 Desalting pre-packed column are used to desalt/remove the excess salt which may have come from precipitation or ion exchange chromatography. It is also used to change the buffer. As compared to dialysis this method is rapid for removing salt and changing the buffer. There is no loss of proteins during this process. Although not commonly used but this column can separate a high molecular mass protein> 5000 from low molecular mass proteins."
