To dry gels rapidly, evenly and safely, the Hoefer GD 2000 uses a dry-heat vacuum method. Heat and vacuum are applied beneath the gel through a heavy aluminum platen. Dries acrylamide and agarose gels up to 33 x 44 cm in as little as thirty minutes. The heavy aluminum platen provides even heat distribution and even vacuum distribution under the gel. A clear silicone cover sheet allows you to view the gel during drying. You can set independent timers for heat and for vacuum. The thermostat is adjustable from 40 to 80º C, ± 2º C. temperatures that vaporize water but do not burn the gels. The quiet, oil-free diaphragm pump maintains the low vacuums necessary for rapid gel drying. Requires no oil and no trap. The system comes complete with the Hoefer GD 2000, the Vacuum Pump and Vacuum Tubing. | |||||||
