Super Resolution microscopy breaks the diffraction limit of light and enables researchers to reveal the most subtle mechanisms at work within cells or tissue; however until now, access to this technology demanded substantial investment.

Making Super Resolution accessible and easy to integrate for the life science research community, the Olympus FV-OSR software allows users of the FluoView FV1200 a smart upgrade to this technology. The FluoView FV1200 confocal laser scanning microscope system is optimised for a diverse array of live cell imaging applications, including photomanipulation. 3D confocal laser scanning microscopy achieves a vastly improved lateral and axial resolution compared to standard widefield, and the new software now further enhances these capabilities.

Drawing on the latest Olympus optical and digital technologies, the system is now transformed into one that is capable of reaching a resolution of up to 120 nm, with simultaneous multicolour capture. The FV-OSR software controls hardware settings and advanced signal processing, boosting resolution by functioning alongside the high-sensitivity GaAsP detector with its superior signal-to-noise ratio. Capable of up to five simultaneous fluorescent detection channels, the FV1200 also includes the industry’s first dedicated laser light stimulation scanner (SIM Scanner), achieving simultaneous stimulation and imaging for real-time visualisation of rapid cell responses.

  • Reach 120 nm optical resolution with FV-OSR - Through improved detection, specific hardware settings, optimized confocal aperture diameter, and signal processing, Olympus has succeeded in realizing improved contrast with super resolution definition. Olympus’ unique and proprietary FV-OSR technology realizes lateral (X-Y) resolution up to 120 nm.
  • Simultaneous multicolor super-resolution - Make use of the great dye and wavelength flexibility offered by the FV1200 to generate multicolor super-resolution images.
    Enhance cell and tissue imaging - Resolution is significantly improved in confocal microscopy as compared to wide-field microscopy.
  • High sensitivity and low noise with cooled detector technology - The Super-Resolution algorithm works best with excellent signal to noise ratio images. Special selection of GaAsP PMT detectors offers high sensitivity with up to 45% quantum efficiency (QE). Olympus has implemented Peltier cooling technology on the GaAsP detectors, resulting in improved signal to noise ratio.
  • Fully compatible with FV1000 - This software is fully compatible with the FluoView FV1000 systems.
