"The product Draq5 is a ready-to-use aqueous formulation really easy to use (simple incubation and washes) and it gives us a good reproducibility between experiment. It has a good stability after storage. Draq5 is a stable fluorescent Live-Cell Permeant DNA Dye which allow us to normalize the fluorescence signal between wells in an in Cell Western Blotting (Odyssey). We followed protein expression (Fluorescence 1) in bone marrow derived macrophages after different cell culture conditions and Draq5 signals (Fluorescence 2) provided us a good linearity for normalization of protein signals well-to-well (ration Florescence1/Fluorescence2). "

"We achieved reproducible results in a high quality. DRAQ5 was really easy to use. We needed small amounts (1:1000) to make nuclei visible during immunofluorescence analysis. An Incubation for 10 minutes with 1:1000 DRAQ5 in Medium was enough to stain nuclei and it wasn’t indispensable to change/discard medium for microscopy."

"Very easy to use (one step direct staining), did not work well with cat blastocyst though - we have no explanation why. Very stable (at least 6 weeks in refrigerator after mounting on slides). It took some time to order to Sweden (through middle steps, not sure if we used the right channels). Equivalent to Hoechst or DAPI but more expensive. Excellent for our confocal that does not have a blue laser."

"DRAQ5 is our most established nuclear stain for cell based assays. It also stains the cytoplasm to some degree which is useful for cytoplasm detection. It's emission in the far red is useful as it does not cause cross signals on lower wavelength-excited channels (while Dapi or Hoechst do)! It is quite expensive though! After sales care not required. "

"DRAQ5 is incredibly easy to use. Just dilute and add to cells immediately before acquiring days. Dye incorporates quickly into both live and fixed cells. It also gives a nice bright stain of the nucleus that has crisp edges. Post-sales, the company was always readily available for any questions or to help with designing experiments with any of their other products. DRAQ5 is excitement stable, even with left diluted at room temperature and very little dye is needed to stain cells."

"We have used DRAQ5 for Amnis ImageStream analysis for several years now and it has a nice consistently bright staining. We found this dye to be more reliable and less problematic (bleeding into subsequent samples, contaminating tubes, compensation issues) than various other dyes such as Dapi and hoechst dyes. We add 2-3ul of a 1:1000 dilution to our cells (1-2x10^6)/100ul just before acquisition. Officially our vial has expired (for at least a year), but we have seen no reduction in signal. We have used DRAQ5 for traditional flow-cytometry as well, to either eliminate or select cell-doublets or 2-cell conjugates. For flow we use a 10-fold higher concentration than for imaging, which makes it less cost-effective than some other live dyes in this setting."

"This product is very useful for us in intracellular staining of receptors for localization. It is an easy to use nuclear counter stain because of its advantageous spectral properties (it does not cover at least two or three out of the available visible range optical channels in confocal microscopy, like propidium iodide).
