Dodecyl Maltoside is one of the most commonly used detergents for membrane protein purification and structure determination. The detergent has been well characterized in its usefulness for extracting and solubilizing/stabilizing membrane proteins in aqueous environments. Dodecyl Maltoside is also often the first choice for crystallizing proteins. Chemically, Dodecyl Maltoside is a mild nonionic detergent comprised of a sugar based hydrophilic head and a long aliphatic hydrophobic tail.

Additionally, customers prefer to also use Octyl Glucoside, Decyl Maltoside and The NG Class Detergents as their first choice for detergents.
