DNASpace provides a very flexible environment for creating custom bioinfomatics workflows. The beauty of this program is that you can tailor these workflows for both high throughput and specialized complex analyses. DNASpace allows you to perform several different analytical protocols simultaneously. For example, you can analyze a group of DNA fragments by performing a local BLAST search with a database on your server and perform an Internet BLAST search using a different database on the NCBI website. After you obtain the results, you can create primer sequences from selected fragments, varying the conditions for PCR, and finally test the potential candidates. Using simple drag-and-drop actions with your computer mouse, any number of DNASpace modules can be linked in a linear or branching workflow. You can also set parameters for filtering data at each step, so that only the results that meet your criteria continue to the next module. If you want to test several different approaches for analyzing a sequence, they can be run and compared automatically. By repeating the same module in series and successively narrowing the criteria, you can automate the decision-making process and refine your data. DNASpace includes wizards that provide an interactive dialog with the researcher. After you answer some questions about the objective of the analysis, DNASpace automatically creates a workflow with the appropriate settings. In addition, since DNASpace uses a modular approach, you can customize your bioinformatics tasks by creating your own applications in Perl script or any programming language. Alternatively, we can program a custom module for you. Another option is a new version of our hardware product, GeneBright III, which is controlled from a standard module. In our tests, GeneBright III performs Smith-Waterman analyses approximately forty-fold faster than its software equivalent. DNASpace gives you the powerful combination of high throughput and selectivity that can both save time and improve efficiency.
