Compact and easy to use system for small laboratories.
Application Area:Bioanalytics
"Very compact and easy to use system. Can be connected directly to tap water pipe. Produce type I and type III water. Inferior performance."

Does what it should do. Haven't had any issues with it.
Application Area:Bioanalytical method development and validation
"The water purifier itself is not that expensive and very good. It provides good quality water which we use in our LC-MS methods. There is also an option to get the BioPak filter which provides water suitable for microbiological applications. It is simple to use, maybe even too simple. The interface could use a do-over, as there are few buttons and one needs to press different combinations to get a measured amount of water. If used often, you get used to it, but a better solution would be preferred. With regards to the consumables, they are a bit expensive, as cost as much as the consumables for the more complex MilliQ purifiers such as the Integral series. However, as this purifier produces the same quality of water, this is understandable. Just don't expect that if this is purifier is cheaper than other models from Millipore, the consumables and maintenance will also be cheaper, because they are about the same. We didn't run into problems with the lifecycle of the consumables, using it moderately in central Romania (the water is soft to medium, definitely far from being hard). The support team in Romania is one of the most professional of any laboratory equipment providers."

If you need Type 1 water even in hard conditions of Kazakhstan it is the best choice.
Application Area:Cell Culture and eukaryotic cell gene editing
"Definitely good and versatile, very easy to use. The filters last a long time and the water quality remains outstanding even if your tap water quality is poor. In Kazakhstan tap water quality is awkward (it is orange color and polluted with dust and algae). The only issue is enormous water consumption. But if water cost is low you definitely need this one."

Ease of use, reliable results.
Application Area:Water purification
"Perfect solution for a small research group. Can produce Type I and Type III water from tap water. Easy to setup and operate. Purification cartridge change is as easy as changing the toner cartridge in a printer."

Good instrumentation!
Application Area:LC-MS - environmental and pharmaceutical applications
"This product is very simple to use and it is possible to achieve RO water to wash glassware as well as ultrapure water for excellent chromatgraphic separations (LC-MS grade). The only flaw is the maintenance cost."

Very bad post sales service. Not clear definitions on filters durability.
Application Area:Water preparation for ion chromatography
"After several months of market review and consultation with sales people we purchased the Direct Q 3 system for the lab. With the weekly use of 5 L of water according to the company the filter should work at least a year. In our case first filters ended after 8 months and second after 4 months. After multiple requests the company could not provide any information on the required inlet water parameters needed. Nor they could explain the problem. They continued telling us that their system is the best. After we agreed to return the system, the negotiation lasted 3 months, the company took the device but decided to reimburse only 30% of the cost . Very bad decision to buy this product and work with their tech support."

Overall good product. We are satisfied. Needs a better user interface.
Application Area:Genetic sequencing, lab equipment washing
"The product has been good and reliable. The filters are expensive. I do not like the user interface on the instrument. It's very confusing a frustrating to operate the multiple buttons and combinations that must be pressed to do anything."

Great piece of equipment.
Application Area:Water for steam autoclave & rinsing of glassware
"Because we have portable field equipment that requires rinsing of glassware, having this piece of equipment to make our own purified water on site saves us quite a bit of money per year. The water from this piece of equipment is also used in the steam autoclave."

Great results. I Want to get a second unit...
Application Area:Bioassay development
"Unit is very reliable, durable and consistently performs. Only drag is the slow flow rate, but it's what we paid for..."

I would definitely recommend to any lab doing BOD analysis.
Application Area:Water Treatment
"The Millipore Milli-Q Direct 8 was purchased to replace the Barnstead still that was used to make water for BOD analysis. Due to the amount of deionized water that was wasted during the distillation process, we were constantly changing out the carbon filters and cartridges on the DI system. This was extremely costly. The Milli-Q Direct 8 converts our tap water into Type I water with no water wasted. To date, there has been no problem with the BOD testing and we have experienced significant monetary savings. "

Great product, but after sale support is lacking.
Application Area:Water purification
"I think it is a good system. My main gripe is that when we were looking at systems we got a lot of attention. The sales rep came and showed us systems installed in other locations and talked about our many options. We finally decided on a system and went forward. We ended up getting some things we really didn't want or need. the rep said he would take it back and give us credit, but we never saw him again. They send an email every year reminding me to replace the filters. This can be good, and bad. Yes, we need to replace the filters every year, but it seems like the reminders are coming more like every nine months. It appears that they are just trying to sell products. Trying to find information on maintenance is ...... difficult. The manual is pretty good at outlining needed maintenance steps, but if it is not in there it is going to be hard to get the information. The Millipore web site is terrible. If you call or email, however, they are pretty helpful."
