"We were told and promised from the application note and several sales and engineers that this unit would be able to detect reliably low levels of Phosphate in the 20 ppb level. This is what we needed and was looking for. Unfortunately issues with the hardware and software made this totally impossible. Along with that, tech service was terrible at first. Then several techs spent about a month trying to get the process to work as detailed in their application note to no avail. This was also after finding out that after explicitly asking for the set up in the application note, that our sales person did not set us up originally with all the correct equipment. Even after getting everything correctly set up, and with tons of hours from our own people and Thermos, nothing could make the unit work like it was advertised. Then after all that, we decided this wasn't living up to its promise and we wanted to return it, Thermo wanted to charge us a restocking fee!"

"ICS-2100 IC is effective for the application which we use it. The installation was lacking. The technician was new and apparently made mistakes in installation. The installation tech was also not helpful at all on helping us with the operation of the instrument. The personnel at our site did not have any IC experience so we paid for an extra training session. The trainer found the errors in the installation. The sales force was not horribly helpful after the sale."

"Great machine, lousy software. Software was clearly written by programmers, not chemists. You basically learn how to use the software by punching buttons at random. Not able to manually integrate. Integration tools are extremely difficult to understand and use. Online help is no help at all and this may be deliberate, as Dionex has the chutzpah to offer to teach you how to use their truly horrendous software for a mere $750. If the software was any good, you could just walk up to it and start using it. Without any instruction at all. The machine itself is very good, I have to say. Absolutely rock-solid and stable. They just need to pitch Chromeleon out the window and start over with only chemists. "

"Gadget works great. Iron poisons the suppressor, something Dionex mentions only briefly and I found out the hard way. Once I learned the ins and outs, gadget started running better. This gadget is NOT recommended for use unless samples are relatively clean. It is subject to metal poisoning. Phone service is very good. Dionex is more than willing to work with you over the phone. Warranty service is NOT good. I made a call once and never heard another word. I managed to get REALLY lucky and fix the gadget myself. The Chameleon software is junk---except for one thing. Software reads like it was written by a programmer and not a chemist. Very difficult to use and Dionex does not supply a manual with it. The help files are a jungle. They will, however, teach you to use the software for a mere $450 or so. I wound up writing my own Excel code to process data. There is one thing the software does well. It outputs data in common formats, making it easier to integrate into a LIMS system. It i"

"Very Customizable! We have two modules connected together so that we can analyze Anions and Cations simultaneously utilizing one AS-DV autosampler. Our service technician customized our software especially for this purpose. It is very rarely down. If I do have issues out of it, it stems from the eluent generator cartridge. There is a seal that cracks occasionally. I’ve called Thermo about this and they are quick to replace it free of charge (because it’s still under warranty)."
