The DELFIA labeling service provides custom labeling of biomolecules with the lanthanide chelates Europium (Eu), Samarium (Sm), Terbium (Tb) and Dysprosium (Dy) Proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, DNA, and other small molecules can be labeled. Peptide labeling can also include synthesis of peptides of up to 40 amino acids. The labeled compounds have a high specific activity with minimal effect on biological activity as well as good stability.
These lanthanide chelates have unique fluorescence properties that serve well as sensitive labels in wide variety of applications. Detection levels can be as low as a few attomoles per well. In addition, compounds can be labeled with chelates for use in multiplexing assays. Europium gives high fluorescence and has the best sensitivity. Samarium and Terbium labels should be used as the second label in dual-label assays for measuring the analyte requiring the lower sensitivity.

You specify the sequence and we synthesize and label your oligonucleotide. Short probes used in hybridization efficiency or melting temperature studies and primers for PCR are usually conjugated with one to three lanthanide chelates. Longer probes are labeled according to the requirements of the application, typically with 5-20 chelates.
