Description
The Compact HomeLab™ is a turnkey, low maintenance home X-ray diffraction system that enables screening and data collection on a range of protein crystal samples. The foundation of this system is the Rigaku MicroMax-002+, an integrated microfocus sealed tube generator and specialized Osmic confocal optic. This system employs a uniquely small focal spot that leads to an intense, monochromatic beam on the sample which is the perfect complement to optimize signal-to-noise for the small crystals used in today's protein laboratories. The usable flux produced by the Compact HomeLab is up to 2 times greater than that of a conventional rotating anode generator and optic and 3 times greater than that of a conventional sealed tube source with multilayer optics. The small, intense beam of the Compact HomeLab enables the screening and collection of quality data from small protein crystals on a low maintenance X-ray system in the home laboratory. The Compact HomeLab can be equipped with either a CCD or Imaging Plate (IP) detector. Rigaku manufactured detectors are fully integrated with the MicroMax-002+ to allow high resolution data collection on your samples. Rigaku manufactures both IP and CCD based detectors that are state-of-the-art for protein X-ray diffraction data screening and data collection. A Rigaku R-AXIS IP detector is ideal for small or poorly diffracting crystals with possibly large unit cells. The Rigaku Saturn CCD detector is excellent for screening or fast data collection with crystals that diffract well. The X-stream™ 2000 low temperature system maintains the crystals at cryogenic temperatures without the need for a house supply of liquid nitrogen.
