CL17 Free Residual Chlorine Analyzer by Hach Company

"The Cl-17 analyzer is a dependable monitor for free and total residual chlorine levels. Although the total analyzer cannot distinguish between chlorine and chlorine compounds, we use it to monitor outgoing water-to-drain to ensure discharge compliance. We employ the free chlorine analyzer on the beverage cooling tunnels to ensure adequate levels of free chlorine in the rinse water. The units have two integral relays to connect a recorder, alarm or pump. We have an alarm light and a sodium hypochlorite pump connected to each unit. The unit controls the dosing of the pump and signals an alarm when levels drop below or rise above the programmable setpoints. The total analyzer unit in our water treatment facility shows an alarm and also shuts off the distribution pumps when any chlorine level above 0.3 ppm is detected. This level is also programmable. The consumables are a bit pricey (around $61.00 USD for a kit) and usually last about a month. With Hach's total care service package we have a field service representative on-site every three months to maintain and calibrate the units along with our other Hach instrumentation. If any issues arise in the interim a phone call or e-mail usually gets a technician dispatched to us within 2 days. Our current technician is excellent and very thorough. With this service package replacement parts and non-scheduled emergency service visits are free! This has saved us downtime and thousands of dollars in replacement of parts, as well as helping us maintain our ISO rating."

"The Cl-17 chlorine monitor is easy to use, accurate, and requires minimal upkeep. We have a service contract with Hach for quarterly service and calibration of our 8 units. If any problems arise with the units a Hach field technician is available within two days for repair. Repairs are usually included in the cost of the contract, so there are no unforeseen costs to surprise us. Perhaps the only drawback would be the use of the reagents, replaced monthly; the cost runs around $55.00 per set. We have one unit that has been in service for 12 years, three in service for 9+ years, two in service for 8+ years, and two in service for 6 months."
