Great instrument with solid track record.
Application Area:Analysis of Nanomaterials, Peptides, Antibody-Dye conjugates, etc.
"We used this instrument nearly daily in our nanomaterials lab. It received heavy use and seldom had issues. The biggest issue that we had was that the halogen bulbs had around 1/2 the life of a standard halogen bulb. That being said, it uses bog-standard H1 automotive bulbs which you can pick up at any auto-parts store for $5-10 (in comparison to custom bulbs which tend to run $50-100). This is a huge plus in my book because when the bulb died, I didn't have to wait for purchasing to order a new one. I just drove down to the nearest Autozone and boom I'm back in business. Plus at this price, we kept 3-4 in stock as backups! The performance of the instrument was VERY good with day-to-day variation being very low."

Good results
Application Area:Spectroscopy
"I used this spectrophotometer for analysing the dispersion of nanotubers in polymer solution. As there are two beams, one passing the reference and the other passing the sample, the background can be well removed and data is more accurate."

"This is a reliable spectrophotometer. I used it for analysing the dispersion of CNT in solvent. As there are two beams, one passing the reference and the other passing the sample, the background can be well removed and data is more accurate."

"The Cary 100 is easy to use with a good software interface for beginners and advanced options for the more expert users. I got good S/N ratio for silver nanoparticle solutions LSPR spectra. It has fast readouts based on scan speed that is chosen."

"Very stable and easy to use. However after the acquisition by Agilent, service has been spotty at best. The instrument is very easy to reconfigure and change lamps. You can use validation tests to test for instrument performance."

"It’s a great instrument for teaching labs, easy to use for students, and fairly simple to understand. It’s good for teaching students the fundamentals of spectroscopy. However, it's probably not very good for data that requires high sensitivity, and the interface is uncomplicated but not very customizable."

We have several applications for the instruments ranging from chromophore development to enzyme kinetic analysis. The instruments are heavily used by undergraduate and graduate students and are easy to use for everyone."

"This instrument is very easy to use and quick for running samples. It is also very easy to explain to a beginner how to work it and make sure it is being used properly. The only problem with the system is that the computer software runs slow with the older computer. The graphs are easy to run and can be easily interpreted for equations."

"The Cary Eclipse is easy to use. The simple reads function quickly gives you arbitrary units measured in seconds. You can easily measure concentration of fluorescent particles based on the measurement. The system seems to drift over about a year but is easily monitored and calibrated. Great tech support."

"This product is very easy to use and operate. It however breaks down a lot and looses accuracy over time. The detection limit, while rather low, is sufficient enough for the purposes of our laboratory. This product helps the students learn the basics of spectrophotometry."

"The Agilent software platform presents an intuitive approach to method development and sample designation. We have had excellent support after the sale. There were no issues with the stand alone instrument, but we had some networking issues that the service technicians were able to quickly diagnose and resolve. We are very pleased."
