Good melt viscosity tool, setting parameters can be tricky.
Application Area: Measuring melt viscosity of polymers
"The CAP 2000+ has been a useful addition to our lab's tools for polymer characterization. It replaced our melt flow instrument as the primary tool for characterizing a polymer's viscosity at high temperatures (we typically measure viscosity in the 150-200C range). Pros: Very little sample required, fast turnaround and minimal cleanup compared to other methods. Heats and equilibrates very quickly (ours goes from room temp to a stable 150C in less than 15 minutes). Good reproducibility (given good training and good measurement parameters). Cons: A bit tricky / takes practice to apply the correct amount of sample in the correct spot on the plate, Establishing appropriate parameters that give consistent results can be difficult for some samples."

It has lower shear rates, making it suitable for many applications where small sample volume and good temperature control are necessary. The rugged, easy-to-use design makes it perfect in environments where other instruments won't last.
