"Mass spectrometry has both qualitative and quantitative uses. In our study we used mass spectrometry as it is suitable for use in all areas. Although the high initial purchase cost, it allows for multi-parameter measurements and has decreased the cost per parameter. Targeted with the high accuracy and specificity allows for a quantization. Software and system-dependent parameters is difficult compared to other devices. However, it will be very difficult to learn. With this device we have performed quantitative analysis of methylmalonic acid as a biomarker of vitamin B12 deficiency, damaged DNA nucleosides as a biomarkers of DNA damage and isoprostane levels as a biomarker of lipid peroxidation."

"This instrument is easy to use and for most time can produce good quality data. Also it is easy to learn. I am a new user for this instrument and it only took me less than two months to learn how to use it. Although sometimes it may cause some problems but it doesn’t take a long time to fix that. Overall, it is an awesome instrument to help us to move on my project and give me very good data to present. I will definitely recommend this to my colleagues. What I want to know more about this instrument is that how to actually clean the MS part."

"This instrument is very good for trace analysis of organic compounds. The sensitivity is pretty good and easy to operate. We used it to analyze PPCP (pharmaceuticals and personal care products) level in drinking water system. We also used it for the detection of the emergency contaminants like DBPs in Missouri drinking water system. Pros: high sensitivity, reliable quantification. Cons: configuration with some LC systems is very complex."
